Review for A Small Cartoon
"Barbara Milton's freshness and simplicity of style, her rare ability to sketch a character and situation in no time flat, makes her a short story writer of absolutely first rank."
—George Plimpton, Founder of The Paris Review
A Lure
Now Available
A Lure is less a “Who-Done-It” than a “Whodunnit-With-Whom.” There’s the beautiful Bryn, who likes sleeping around. There’s Pat, her much older lover, who sequesters her on his Caribbean Island. There’s Dana, Bryn’s sister, who owns a floundering tackle shop in Northern Minnesota, and is the only person Pat allows to come visit. There’s Coz, an ex-marine and Pat’s right-hand-man, who Dana immediately falls for, but Coz is already gaga over Bryn. Meanwhile, Dottie, Pat's septuagenarian housekeeper, is in love with Pat, who mainly ignores her. And finally, there’s Henry, Pat’s rapscallion son, a movie star who’s lurking in and out of the shadows.
